Lionel Messi scored his 9th goal for Inter Miami in their 2-1 win over Los Angeles FC in the semifinals of the Leagues Cup. Inter Miami will face Liga MX side Club América in the final on September 22.
Messi opened the scoring for Inter Miami in the 23rd minute, and Gonzalo Higuain added a second goal in the 58th minute. LAFC pulled a goal back through Carlos Vela in the 78th minute, but they could not find an equaliser.
This was Messi's first goal in the Leagues Cup, and his 9th goal in all competitions for Inter Miami since joining the club in September 2022.
